I was so incredibly fortunate growing up as my mom was an amazing seamstress and to this day, loves fashion. Mom would take my sister and I to a luxurious fabric store and we would spend hours looking through every pattern book and once the pattern was decide on, mom would layout the fabrics, buttons and lace that she would use to create our new dresses which would fit us perfectly. I wish I had appreciated this incredible talent that she had but as I child I had no idea how precious this was.
When I painted this scene with Cinderella I felt a strong sense of nostalgia. What girl hasn’t dreamt about the dress that you can’t wait to wear? Dreaming about how magical it will make you feel. This painting is simple but to me it says so much.
